Every once in a while, I come across an idea and I just can’t help but envy the mind that came up with it. Puhhhhlleeeezzzz check this website out! God I would kill to be the source of such genius! But, as it were, in this case, I am not the genius nor the muse and I’ve just got to live with that. The project is so cool that it doesn’t really matter. It’s real and to marvel at it is more than enough.
Of what insanity am I speaking? Why, The 1000 Journals Project of course!
The 1000 Journals Project isn’t a particularly original idea, but the romance of putting journals out into the world, waiting (im)patiently for their serendipitous return and then devouring the thousands of original entries is just so appealing. Good Lord. Each book is heaven itself. A multi-faceted worldview right there in front of you, sitting in your hand like a little present.
You see, the book does not discriminate. It does not player-hate. It has no gender bias or racial preference. It does not shy away from an author or artist because they represent another spiritual view or–God forbid–vote with the political party across the isle. No, these journals offer their blank pages to anyone who can beg, borrow or steal one from the previous author.
And I, for one, am willing to do any or all three of the above mentioned activities to get my hands on one! If you know where one is or have one yourself, PRETTY PLEASE (With like 6 Billion cherries on top!!! And sprinkles too!!!), pass it on my way! I’ll send you a paid/self addressed envelope. I’m on my knees here. And ask Phillip, I hate to beg! I usually hold it beneath the dignity. But I’m making an exception in this case. If you’ve got the goods or the know, shoot me an email at: starnsbailey@gmail.com! Unless you happen to have or know the whereabouts of No. 114 or No.194, in which case, for the love, get in touch with the creator of the project, a certain “Someguy.” A major contributor to these journals has passed away and Someguy is desperately searching for these specific volumes so the family can make copies.
Got it? No.114 or No.194, send along to Someguy. His email is: someguy@1000journals.com. Otherwise, you can just hit me up. I’ll love you for always. And you’ll definitely be my new BFF!
